Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
MrAppliancePro identifies household appliances from a photo of their rating plate. This policy describes what the app collects, what happens to it, and how to get rid of it. It describes what the service does today, not what it might do later.
There is no account
You don’t sign up, and we don’t ask for your name, email address, or phone number. When you first open the app it generates a random identifier and stores it on your device. That identifier is what ties your scans to you. It is not your advertising ID and not a hardware serial number, and deleting the app’s data or deleting your data from within the app breaks the link permanently.
What we collect
- Photos you take of rating plates, plus any brand or model text you type in yourself.
- The identification results — the model we matched, the decoded age, and the research behind it.
- Scans you choose to save, along with any nickname, job reference, or notes you attach to them.
- Properties you create to group appliances. You supply a label; if you ever provide a street address it is stored only as a one-way hash, never as text.
- Team membership, if you join a crew with an invite code. Members of a team can see each other’s saved scans.
- Outbound parts-link clicks, so we can tell which retailers are useful. See our affiliate disclosure.
- Operational logs — request timing, errors, and what each identification cost us to run.
What we don't collect
No advertising identifiers. No contacts. No location data. No plaintext street addresses. No background tracking of any kind — the app only talks to our servers when you ask it to do something.
Your photos
A rating-plate photo is sent to our servers and to our AI provider, Anthropic, which reads the plate and researches the model. That is the only reason the photo leaves your device.
Your photos are never used to train third-party models.
Photos from scans you don’t save are deleted within 90 days. If you save a scan, its photos are kept as long as you keep the scan. A rating plate can incidentally capture part of a room, which is exactly why unsaved photos don’t linger.
Who else is involved
- Anthropic — reads the plate and performs the model research.
- Fly.io — hosts the service and its database, in the United States.
- Affiliate networks and retailers — when you tap a parts link, the retailer sees that a referral came from us. They do not receive your photos, your scan history, or your identifier.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep things
- Photos from unsaved scans: deleted within 90 days, automatically.
- Everything tied to your device: until you delete it.
- Cost and performance records: kept after deletion, but stripped of any link to you or your scans. These are our own operating accounts and cannot be traced back to a person.
- Facts about appliance models — specs, manuals, parts, recalls — are not personal data. They stay in the shared library and are unaffected by deletion.
Deleting your data
In the app, open Account and choose Delete my data. This removes your scans, saved history, properties, team membership, and uploaded photos immediately and permanently. There is no undo and no recovery window.
You can also email support@mrappliancepro.com and ask us to do it, or to tell you what we hold about you.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with TLS. Entitlements are enforced on the server, never trusted from the client, and outbound affiliate links are cryptographically signed so click attribution can’t be forged. No system is perfectly secure, and we won’t claim otherwise.
Children
MrAppliancePro is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we’ll update the date at the top and, where the change affects how your data is handled, say so in the app.
